CRITERIA OF PUBLICATION IN QUALITEN JOURNALS

Qualiten Journals publish peer-reviewed scholarly articles in the field of science, technology and medicine. All submitted articles that have passed initial quality check undergo full peer review by subject matter experts (handling editors and reviewers) from science and medical community. During peer review, articles are critically evaluated for scope, novelty, impact, ethics, soundness and reproducibility, content organization, and language.

 

We publish original research articles, reviews, clinical studies, perspective, case reports, clinical images, editorials and commentary. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR AUTHORS

The ethical conduct is the heart of research and publication process, which maintains the virtue and trustworthiness of scientific and medical scholarly output. The soundness, reproducibility and usability of scholarly content are directly dependent upon the integrity and ethics followed by authors from study design to preparation of manuscript. Qualiten Press makes certain that best version of your article is published. We understand that authors may come from different linguistic backgrounds and their primary goal is to share scientific outcomes to the public for advancement of science. After manuscript submission, Qualiten Press staff assists authors in minor language correction, plagiarism removal and content refinement prior to initiation of formal peer review process. However, any major linguistic errors may make peer-review a tedious process for reviewers and may lead to rejection of the article. If any major editing and linguistic changes are required (prior or during peer review), author can take help from our editing partners.

Our editing partners provide most credible and reliable editing services in the industry. Qualiten Press suggests authors to go through their website to ensure the quality of their services. Authors can independently use editing services, but due to our partnership, above organizations provide these services at a lower cost.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

After completion of research study, authors compile the data with full analysis in the form of manuscript. This manuscript is submitted to the journal where journal’s staff, handling editors and peer-reviewers work on the manuscript along with the author to improve it before publication. Qualiten Journals provide flexible formatting of the manuscripts, but authors should follow the structural organization of manuscript based on the type of manuscript.

1. Types of Manuscripts
 
1.1. Original Research

Original research articles are primary research performed by author(s) that provide significant results and discussion. These studies could be based on previously published peer-reviewed articles and provide evidence-based solutions for a research questions. You can refer previously published research articles or template.

1.2. Review Article

Review articles provide comparison, analysis and overview of a collection of significant past researches in the specific field that helps in comprehensive understanding the field. Citations are very important for review articles as the data is collected from various sources. Review articles help scientist to understand the comparative studies and form research strategies to advance the scientific discovery. You may check previously published review articles or template.

1.3. Case Study (Case Report/Clinical Study)

Case studies are based on observation and treatment of the patients. These studies are conducted by scientists and/or healthcare providers to understand the cause, diagnosis, epidemiology, mechanism, and treatment of diseases. Case studies help scientists from various disciplines to design their future studies towards understanding and treatment of diseases. You may check previously published case studies or template.

1.4. Perspective

Perspective are usually brief communication written to provide authors’ perspectives while addressing latest research, hypothesis, opinions, results and changes in specific fields, which may have significant impact. Fresh perspectives help scientist to understand different views and to shape their own current and future research. You may check previously published perspective articles or template.

1.5. Editorial

Editorial pieces are short forms of content written by member of the editorial board of the Journal. Editorials mostly contain opinion of the editor, but it reflects the viewpoint of the journal for respective research study. Editorials guide scientist for their future research strategies or provide a summarized overview of scientific studies and their prospects. 1.6. Other Types (Methodology/Protocol, Commentaries, Conference Proceedings, Clinical Images)

Qualiten Press also publishes other types of scientific content like research methodologies, clinical essays, commentaries, conference proceedings and clinical images. These kinds of content are usually short form of communication and provide precise information about scientific discoveries. 2. Language

Qualiten Press has a global presence; thus, we accept only those articles which are written primarily in English language. Our readers come from various countries and English is commonly used language across the globe.

 
3. Flexible Text Format

Qualiten Press understands the problem faced by authors in reformatting of their article while submission in different journals. Thus, Qualiten Press offers flexible formatting on font type, font size, bullet type, line spacing, paragraph indentation, etc. We encourage authors to follow standard structure and organization of article based on type of article. Standard structuring and content organization helps publishers and reviewers to understand article properly.

At Qualiten Journals, text formatting is not a criterion for manuscript acceptance or rejection. Once manuscript is submitted, Qualiten Press staff will work along with you in case it requires any major reformatting. Qualiten Press reformats all submitted manuscripts to a consistent standard format that is used in peer-review process. Hence, to save our authors’ time and effort we provide flexibility to authors to submit a meaningfully well-structured manuscript without worrying about formatting consistencies.

 
4. Manuscript Sections
 
4.1. Title

Title of the article should be informative, concise, and captivative. It should be limited to 10-15 words and should reflect the objective and outcome of study. Ensure title does not contain unnecessary words for elongation.

4.2. Authors List & Affiliations

Qualiten Journals publish the authors according to the series provided in the manuscript during submission. Authors should discuss among themselves how they would like to appear on the list. Lists could be arranged as per the significance of the contribution for the manuscript.

4.3. Abstract

Abstract is 200-300 words long paragraph which summarizes the content of the article. It should describe the initial question of the study, methodology and conclusion of the work. It should be written in a way which give an overall summary of the content and can be easily understood by readers without going through whole content.

4.4. Keywords

Keywords are important component of the article and should include words that represent the basis of research, scope of study, specific methodology used in the study, etc. Keywords are used for various reasons like helping readers to determine the focus of your article, tagging the article for better search within Qualiten journals and for optimizing the article for global search engines like Google, Bing, etc.

Correct tagging of the article would also help us in quickly finding the subject experts and inviting them for peer review of your article. Keywords help us in interlinking and listing the article on archiving and indexing websites like PubMed.

4.5. Abbreviations

Authors should provide the list of abbreviations used in the content for reader’s reference. Abbreviations for scientific procedures, scientific terminologies, or organizations could be used, but authors should not use commonly used words or helping verbs as abbreviation. Abbreviation list helps reader to get information at one place for all the abbreviations in the paper instead of searching in whole content to identify the full form of abbreviation.

4.6. Main Body

Organization of article’s main body differ as per type of article. Review articles, perspectives, editorials, protocols, conference proceedings have flexibility in organization and can contain headings and subheadings as per Author’s choice. Clinical Images article usually contain images and figure legends. They do not have a descriptive main body. Please check “Types of Manuscripts” section above. Qualiten Press staff will check the manuscript during submission and will communicate with corresponding author if it requires any changes.

Original Research article’s main body can be of 3000 words or more and it should contain detailed focus of the research, methodology used to get the data, analysis of the data, result outcomes, discussion and conclusion of study. Main body could contain citations of the previous researches which are the foundations of the recent one.

Introduction

Every research starts with scientific questions and whole study is the process of finding solutions for those specific questions. Introduction section of article should be written in a comprehensive and referenced manner to let readers know the origin of an idea for current research, questions put forward, importance of study, hypothesis, methodologies and expected outcomes.

Results

This section contains data and outcome of the research. It should be driven and explained by the methods used in the study. Authors should note that results section should be written only as per the available data and further analysis of the results could be written in “Discussion” section.

Discussion

Discussion should be written in a way that it correlated previous studies with results of current study. This section must highlight the new findings in accordance with the question(s) asked during study. Additionally, potential impact and further insight about the result could be described in this section. Authors should ensure not to repeat the content previously written in the results.

Conclusion

Conclusion is intended to highlight the key points of the research. Concluding remarks could be a concise summary of the article with points describing the discussion and further impact of the research.

Materials and Methods

Materials and methods section describe how the raw data is collected and what tools and procedures are used to analyze the results. Material and methods help other scientist to duplicate the experiments for furthering research in the field. Good methodology is crucial for readers to evaluate the credibility of the research study. Any animal experiments or human trials must be evaluated and approved by the governing bodies at Author’s institution.

4.7. Disclosures

Authors should clearly report in the manuscript, existence of any conflicts of interest that may influence (or create bias) in the study or publication. If there is no conflict of interest, then a “no conflict of interest” statement is included in manuscript.

4.8. Grant Support/Funding Disclosure

Authors should acknowledge and disclose specific sources of funding (such as grants, donations, contracts) that supported the study and facilitate the publication of manuscript. Any other financial interests or other competing interests should also be disclosed fully in the manuscript.

4.9. Ethical Permissions

Ethical permission statements are required in manuscript for studies involving human participants or animal subjects. Authors must follow the institutional, local jurisdiction and international guidelines throughout the research processes whenever human and animal subject are involved. Also, there study must be permitted by authorized agency or government body.

Studies involving human and animal subjects go through additional scrutiny during peer-review process at Qualiten Journals. Authors should refer to our “Ethics for Authors – Human and Animal Subjects” page.

4.10. Acknowledgements

Acknowledgement gives author opportunity to show their gratitude for individuals and organizations who helped in any way to complete the research successfully. All non-author individuals or agencies involved in supporting the study through funding, provision of materials or instruments, performing minor roles in study design, experimentation, analysis and writing are acknowledged in the manuscript in acknowledgement section.

4.11. Author Contributions

Multiple authors may contribute in planning study, conducting the study, collecting and analyzing data, inferring results, writing the manuscript, maintaining integrity and approving the final version of the article for publication. Specific contributions of individual authors are reported in “Authors Contributions” section of the article. If authors do not have this section available during submission, it can be submitted later, after peer review process is complete as it is not a requirement for peer review process. However, information on authors’ contributions is required prior to publication of accepted articles. Authors can refer our Author Contribution Guidance document.

4.12. References

References are provided to cite the basis of the study and references from where specific background content of the article is built. Majority of references should be taken from previously published peer-reviewed sources. Proper citations allow readers to gain insight about the materials you have used, and it also improve the credibility of the work. Authors should ensure their references are credible and trustworthy otherwise readers and other scientists could be misguided. Any standard format for referencing is okay, but online link should be provided. As example some formatting is shown below:

4.13. Headings and Subheadings

Authors should provide Proper headings and subheadings to help readers and reviewers to quickly navigate the articles and find relevant sections. Headings and subheadings should be concise, and it should be supportive and descriptive of the content.

 
5. Artwork, Table and Multimedia
 
5.1. Figures

Science and medical research involve generation and collection of graphical data. Authors should include figures and images at appropriate places within the text of articles to make it more interesting and easier to understand for the readers. Figures should be meaningful and relevant to texts and results. A short figure legend describing the figure should accompany each figure. You may check image organization template for guidance.

Image editing in order to clearly represent the observed data or facts is ethically acceptable. However, image manipulation to falsify the observed data or facts is unethical and fall in the category of data fabrication. Any kind of deception, whether by data fabrication, data falsification or image manipulation must be avoided. All provided figures should have metadata, which help us in evaluating the credibility of the figure. Authors may require providing original images in case where images are highlighted or lightly edited to show significant part.

We recommend authors to embed and place figures at appropriate locations in the text of manuscript (preferably in Microsoft Word file) because it helps Qualiten staff to prepare a formal document for peer review and facilitates reviewers to refer figures easily during peer review process. Besides embedding figures in manuscript file; original figures and images should be submitted in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator JPEG, PNG, TIFF or related formats.

5.2. Tables

Tables can provide large quantity of data precisely and to present it concisely in columns and rows. Tables are also an effective tool for comparative studies. Authors should ensure to provide precise title and brief description (if needed) for the tables to make it more understandable for the readers.

We recommend authors to place tables at appropriate locations in the text of manuscript (preferably in Word files such as .docs file) because it helps Qualiten staff to prepare a formal document for peer review and facilitates reviewers to refer tables easily during peer review process. Besides embedding tables in manuscript file, tables should also be submitted in separate Microsoft Excel file (such as .xlsx file).

 

5.3. Multimedia

Authors can also submit different multimedia along with the article including Audio or any visual that is required for the full understanding of the article. All the multimedia provided along with the article should be original and created specifically for/during the study. Authors should provide us with the original multimedia data with attached metadata and material used to create the metadata.

 
6. Supplementary Materials

Supplementary materials are additional data or content (datasets, methods, applications, codes, etc.) that supports the study and enhance the quality of main manuscript. Supplementary Materials should follow the same guidelines for figures, tables, multimedia and methods as described earlier. Supplementary Materials are published along with the article with proper citation or source.

 
7. Graphical Abstract & Highlights

Authors should consider making graphical abstract or graphical highlight to summarize the article in a more interactive manner which is easily sharable and generate more interest in readers.

 
8. File Formats

We recommend authors to submit article as Microsoft Word file. Also, authors should embed and place figures, tables and multimedia at appropriate locations in the text of manuscript because it helps Qualiten staff to prepare a formal document for peer-review and facilitates reviewers to refer figures, tables and multimedia easily during peer review process. Authors should submit separately original figure/images files (preferably Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, JPEG, PNG, TIFF or related formats), table files (preferably .XML or . XLSX), audio files (preferably MP3, WAV, WMA) and video files (AVI, MOV, MP4, MPEG, MPG, WMV).

We understand that occasionally authors may not have content ready in above specified formats. Please do not worry, you may still submit your manuscript and share your concerns. We will be happy to assist you during initial quality check of submitted content and files.

 
9. Cover Letter

Cover Letter is an important component of your submission. It should be written in professional and informative way to introduce editors and reviewers about the importance of study, novelty, outcomes, and impact to the field. Some content of the cover letter is viewed by editorial office, editors and reviewers during peer-review process; and plays an important role in publication decision. Also, content from your cover letter may be used to promote your article post-publication.

10. Submission Checklist

12. Data Availability & Reporting

Qualiten Journals recommend its authors to report and deposit data from science and medical studies in special archives for data reporting. Refer “Ethics for Authors – Data Reporting” and detailed list Biological Repositories. This list is regularly updated by Qualiten Press team.

Authors should also provide information on availability of raw data and materials that can be shared if requested from other colleagues for advancement of research. Qualiten Press requires author to provide a statement on data availability and materials sharing indicating the conditions when authors may or may not share data or materials that have been used in their research study. Sharing of unprocessed data and materials can reduce redundancy of experiments and improve reproducibility of research studies.

 
13. Other Required Information

All the articles that are accepted for publication after peer review process undergo production phase. All published articles include dedicated “Authors” section at the bottom of the manuscript (full text HTML as well as in PDFs) that includes a brief biography, photo, website link and permanent E-mail address. We take care of privacy of Authors and hence the E-mail addresses of authors are not publicly visible, readers will send E-mail to authors through our platform. Thus, authors are required to submit following information during the peer review process, once their article is accepted for publication:

PROCESSES: ARTICLE SUBMISSION TO PUBLICATION

Qualiten Journals publish original research, review, brief communications, case studies, clinical images, perspective, commentaries, and editorial articles. Authors can submit their manuscripts in Qualiten Journals using a simple online Submission Form. After submission, dedicated journal staff (that includes skillful peer-review coordinators, production team, and article promotion team) will coordinate submission corrections (if any), peer review process, production, publication and promotion of article post publication. Also, you will be consistently updated with the status of your manuscript through our robust online tracking system.

1. Submission Process

Submission process starts with author identifying the Journal for submission and ends when article is approved after initial evaluation to undergo formal peer review by subject matter experts. Submission of manuscript is easy and quick with our simple online form. Also, we try to provide our feedback after initial evaluation within 3 business days. Authors should provide all required documents along with manuscript to smoothen the process.

Qualiten Press publishes journals in various fields. Submission in improper journal may cause article rejection. 1.3. Online Submission System

Authors can submit their article through our easy to use online Submission Form. At the end of the submission, a manuscript identifier number is provided which helps authors in tracking the status of the article.

1.4. Confirmation of Receipt

Submission confirmation, along with a copy of submitted form and terms and conditions are sent at corresponding author’s E-mail for their record. Submission confirmation E-mail will also include manuscript identifier number that helps in tracking the status of article.

1.5. Initial Evaluation

Qualiten Journal’s staff performs a quick initial evaluation of the submitted manuscript to check alignment with scope of journal, plagiarism, scientific merit of article, ethical compliance, organization of article, language, etc. Qualiten Press staff assists authors in minor language correction, plagiarism removal, content refinement prior to initiation of formal peer review process. However, any major linguistic mistakes may make peer-review a tedious process for reviewers and may lead to rejection of the article. If it requires any major editing and linguistic changes (prior or during peer review), author can take editing services from our editing partnerss.

Any submitted manuscript identified with plagiarism, ethical issues, fraud, harmful to biosafety, harmful to any specific culture or heritage, etc. are rejected at this stage and appropriate reasons are provided to author, so that author is aware of issues and refrain from submitting exactly same article to any other journal.

 
2. Editorial & Peer Review Process

Qualiten Journals have an esteemed group of qualified handling editors and reviewers who guide scientist by providing necessary feedback to improve the quality of the article. Peer review process may take a significant amount of time despite our efficient peer-reviewers due to immense work. Authors should ensure to perform the required revision quickly to minimize the time in the peer-review process.

 
2.1. Peer Review Process

Qualiten Press performs multilevel and multistage quality control before any article gets published. All submitted articles that have passed initial quality check, undergo double-blinded peer review by subject matter experts (handling editors and reviewers) from the field of the article. During peer review, articles are critically evaluated for scope, novelty, impact, ethics, soundness and reproducibility, content organization, and language. Manuscript handling editor (member of Editorial Board) independently analyze the article and compare the collected feedbacks from all peer reviewers, to formulate an interim feedback decision on article. The compiled feedback from all reviewers including interim decision of handling editor is communicated to the author by Journal’s editorial office.

2.2. Article Revision Guidelines

Authors should promptly revise the manuscript and provide their feedback on peer-reviewer’s comments. In case of any disagreement with reviewers’ comments, author should clarify their point of view and provide proper references to support their argument. Authors should be polite and respectful to the reviewers when offering counterarguments.

2.3. Editorial Decisions

Manuscript handling editor evaluates the revised manuscript and feedback provided by Authors. Based on the quality and quantity of revision, handling editor either makes a final decision on manuscript. In cases, when significant amount of new data is added in the revised manuscript and handling editor performs additional rounds of peer review, then Qualiten staff coordinates additional round of double-blinded peer review.

2.4. Acceptance & Rejections

Handling editor takes decision on whether to accept the article with no change, with minor changes, with major changes or outright reject the article based on thorough evaluation of reviewers’ comments and author’s revisions. Authors are advised to perform necessary changes in case of acceptance with minor or major changes. In case of rejection we provide reason for rejection, authors could consider resubmission with sufficient revision or submission in any other journal.

2.5. Article Transfer Policy

In case if an article is rejected due to mismatch with scope of Journal, then authors can request editorial office to transfer the article along with peer reviewers’ comment to any other suitable journal within Qualiten Press. We will be happy to transfer the article and peer-reviewers’ comments as per Author’s request. Previous reviews can help in speeding up the peer review process in the next journal and avoid wastage of important comment that has been provided voluntarily by our handling editors and reviewers.

 
3. Production Process

Prior to online release of the study, articles go through the editing process which affixes the article according to the journal’s standards. This editing process includes typesetting, copyediting, data processing, etc. Qualiten Journals have a dedicated production team which provides efficient workflow to minimize the time taken in the production process.

 
3.1. Copyediting, Typesetting & Data Processing

Copyediting, typesetting and data processing (including image processing) is performed by our skillful production team to ensure article looks professional and is error free for the readers.

3.2. Proof Reading & Approval

Before publishing, article is sent to the author for proofreading and approval. Authors must evaluate the PDF format of manuscript, find errors (if any) and provide necessary feedback to Qualiten Press production team. Once approved by author, article is published on our website (both in Full Text HTML format and PDF format) along with the Peer Review Summary.

 
4. Publication Process

Publication process involves steps to assure articles get their desired reach. Publication process involves release in various formats, indexing and certifications for the article, which helps in increasing the sustainability of the article. Qualiten believes in global dissemination of scientific research with no hindrance and paywalls, and through our publication process we affirm our vision is implemented.

 
4.1. Publication [Full Text & PDF]

Articles are published in Full Text HTML and PDF formats. Full text makes the article easier to search on the search engines and provide better search ranking. Text version also supports high quality images, alt text and hyperlinks. PDF versions are print-friendly, and they allow constant formatting across all platforms and browsers.

4.2. DOI & Citation

Qualiten Journals provide Digital Object identifier (DOI) for every article published. Furthermore, Qualiten provide quick citation information for the readers willing to quote or replicate the scientific research. Readers can use either DOI or citation to ensure Authors are properly credited for their hard work.

4.3. Open Access, Copyrights & License

Open Access implies to unrestricted access to online scholarly content without any paywall barrier. All articles at Qualiten Journals are open access and published under most permissive Creative Commons license. Thus, providing freedom to use the journals’ content for furthering scientific innovation with no delay or hindrance.

ARTICLE TRACKING SYSTEM

Qualiten Press has devised an Article Tracking System for authors to know the status of their manuscripts. Our tracking system is efficient and consistently updated according to the progress. A manuscript identifier is provided to the author during submission, which they can use to track the progress of the article.

INVOICING & PAYMENTS

Qualiten Press sends invoice after production of accepted article at corresponding author’s E-mail address. Invoice contains details of payments including multiple methods of payments available to author. To save planet, we use paperless online invoicing. However, if you or your institute requires paper invoice mailed to you, then write to us directly after you have received paperless invoice in E-mail. We will be happy to send a paper copy to you.
